Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)1/2 cup chopped sweet onion1 bottle (12 ounces) beer or nonalcoholic beer1 can (10-1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth, undiluted1-1/2 cups sliced fresh carrots1-1/4 cups water1 cup chopped peeled turnip1/2 cup sliced celery1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon pepper1 bay leaf1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
Preparation
In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until heated through. Discard bay leaf.
