Ingredients
1 tbsp. sesame oil
1 tbsp. Hot pepper sauce
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. dry mustard powder
1 lb. block of tofu (14 ounces is fine if that’s how it’s packaged)
Cooking oil (optional)
4 buns
1 avocado
Handful of sprouts
1 tomato
Mustard (I like Dijon.)
Preparation
Step 1Combine the sesame oil, hot pepper sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and dry mustard in the storage container. This is your marinade.Step 2Cut the tofu into four slices about 1 inch thick and add it to the marinade. Seal the container and shake it around to coat the tofu. Let this marinate in the refrigerator for at least 24 minutes and up to 24 hours.Step 3Heat the skillet over a medium burner until it’s hot enough to make a drop of water bubble. If you have a grill pan, oil it lightly before heating. Cook the tofu slices 5 to 8 minutes on each side until brown and firm. Turn off the stove and prepare to construct your sandwiches.Step 4On each bottom bun, spread on mustard, followed by a slice of the cooked tofu, sprouts, tomato, and avocado. Finish each sandwich with a top bun. Dig in.
