Ingredients
1 loaf (1 pound) unsliced Italian bread1 pound ground beef2 tablespoons taco seasoning4 ounces cream cheese, softened1/2 cup salsa1 cup shredded lettuce1 large tomato, sliced6 slices American cheese
Preparation
Cut bread in half lengthwise; hollow out top and bottom of loaf, leaving a 1/2-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use).
In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles, 5-7 minutes; drain. Stir in taco seasoning.
In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and salsa until blended. Spread inside top and bottom of bread shell. Add lettuce, tomato, beef mixture and cheese to bottom shell. Replace bread top. Cut into slices.
