Ingredients

1/4 cup finely chopped onion1/4 cup butter1 cup ketchup1/2 cup packed brown sugar1/3 cup cider vinegar1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke, optional3/4 teaspoon paprika3/4 teaspoon chili powder1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon ground mustard1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper1/2 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

In a small saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Liquid Smoke if desired and seasonings. Cook and stir until heated through.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Use as a basting sauce for grilled meats.
